The Big Valley Cardinals struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (the Hayfork Timberjacks had 28 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Big Valley took a serious blow against the Timberjacks, falling 66-23. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Big Valley has scored all season.
Hayfork found their leader in underclassman Levi Cavalli, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Cavalli is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Bonelli, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Big Valley's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Hayfork, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 17-6.
Big Valley will be playing at home against the Honkers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in California (Tulelake is ranked 1285th, while the Cardinals are ranked 1296th). As for Hayfork, they will head out on the road to square off against the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
