Even though the Raceland Rams scored an imposing 65 points on Saturday, the Russell Red Devils still came out on top. Russell snuck past Raceland with a 69-65 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Russell.
Russell got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Neel out in front who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Noah Quinn, who scored 18 points.
Russell has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Raceland, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Russell on the road again on Monday and play against Blazer at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Blazer presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Russell in Kentucky (Blazer is ranked 22nd, while Russell is ranked 90th). As for Raceland, they will head out on the road to face off against Clinton County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
