On Saturday, the Elkhorn Antlers faced the Crete Cardinals in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Elkhorn ended up on the wrong side of a tough 85-63 walloping at the hands of Crete. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (59), Elkhorn still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Elkhorn lost, one person who can't be blamed is Colin Comstock. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Comstock has scored all season. Nixon Farmer was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Elkhorn's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2. As for Crete, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Elkhorn will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Bennington at 7:15 p.m. Crete will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Schuyler at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Schuyler: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Crete has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
