Seven Rivers Christian is 0-9 against Williston since February of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Seven Rivers Christian came out on top against Ocala Christian on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run third inning. The Warriors blew past the Crusaders 17-2. The Warriors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
AJ Gentile was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Gentile was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Seven Rivers Christian got a massive performance out of Thayne Oxford, who went 1-for-2 with five stolen bases and three runs. Those five stolen bases gave Oxford a new career-high. Braylen Randall also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, while Williston put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for West Port. The Red Devils were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Wolf Pack. With that victory, the Red Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Not much got past Jacob Hassell, who gave up just five hits to keep West Port off the board. Hassell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Will Conquest was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Colby Jansen, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Williston now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Seven Rivers Christian, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Seven Rivers Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Williston struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Seven Rivers Christian suffered a grim 15-2 defeat to Williston when the teams last played back in February. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
