The Ayala Bulldogs will square off against the Poly Bears at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ayala's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Claremont with a sharp 11-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on three straight.
Lilianna Acosta made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Acosta was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jayden Tamura and Madison Caganap did most of the damage at the plate: Tamura went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI, while Caganap went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Serenity DeAvila, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Ayala was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 11 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Poly got the win against JW North on Monday by a conclusive 8-1.
Like Ayala, Poly also got a great game from a two-way player: Marley Audoma. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits (and not a single walk). Audoma has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 24 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Poly let Katelyn Cortez and Honesty Romero run wild. Cortez went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Romero went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Ayala's win bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Poly, their victory bumped their record up to 20-7.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ayala hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .442. However, it's not like Poly struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ayala might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Poly in their previous meeting back in February of 2025. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
