Reedy is a perfect 5-0 against Newman Smith since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lions will host the Trojans at 6:45 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Reedy has 11 straight wins, Newman Smith has 34 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Reedy hadn't beaten Lone Star on the road since March 25, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Rangers. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Malaina Boyst spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, Reedy got a massive performance out of Megan Lau, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, Lau posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Jackson, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.
Reedy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .325 or higher in 11 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Newman Smith came up short against The Colony on Tuesday, falling 19-2.
Newman Smith saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Gutierrez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. That RBI was Gutierrez's first of the season.
Reedy's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-9. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Newman Smith, their loss dropped their record down to 0-19.
Newman Smith's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Reedy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. It's a different story for Newman Smith, though, as they've only averaged .119. Will they be able to contain Reedy's hitters?
Reedy took their victory against Newman Smith when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 19-0 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
