Mossyrock's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Winlock with a sharp 8-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won four in a row.
Easton Kolb made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kolb was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Austin Isom was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Van Kost was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Rainier can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Toutle Lake. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mountaineers have posted since March 14, 2024.
Hunter Howell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits.
At the plate, Rainier saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Sheaffer, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Mossyrock's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Rainier, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
