Hatley extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 12-8. They blew past the Walnut Wildcats 10-2. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Emily Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Hatley let Carys George and Kelsey Coffey run wild. George went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Coffey went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. George continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzi Fast, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hatley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.
As for Walnut, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered since March 12th.
On Walnut's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Wilburn, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Wilburn has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Taylor Garner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Hatley will take on Baldwyn at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Walnut, they will face off against Thrasher at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.33 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
