The Alchesay Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They fell just short of Ganado by a score of 74-71. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Alchesay lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brent Aday. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with four steals. Aday hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Chauncey Newhall, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Alchesay struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Ganado pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ganado to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacob Yazzie, who scored 17 points along with six steals and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Yazzie has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Grant Paddock, who scored ten points along with eight assists and eight rebounds.
Alchesay's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-18. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Ganado, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-14.
Alchesay won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Page at 2:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Page is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.3 points per game this season. As for Ganado, they will head out on the road to face off against Monument Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Ganado is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season.
