Softball Recap: North Davidson Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only North Davidson walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Franklin Panthers on Friday. The Black Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

Rileigh Barker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Barker was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Abigail Brown was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Sears, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

North Davidson's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Franklin, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-6.

Looking ahead, North Davidson will challenge Oak Grove on Tuesday. The Grizzlies' pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so the Black Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
