Make it 12 blowout wins for the Santa Fe Catholic Hawks this season. They blew past Lake Region 66-45. Winning may never get old, but Santa Fe Catholic sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Santa Fe Catholic was led to victory by Tate Darner and Hudson Dykhuizen. Darner scored 19 points along with two steals, while Dykhuizen scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Danilo Stankovic, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Lake Region still got an impressive performance from Dwayne Lattimore, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Lattimore has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brenton Allen, who scored 11 points.
Santa Fe Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. As for Lake Region, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Fe Catholic will take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Hawks are ranked 32nd). As for Lake Region, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st. Hopefully Bridge to Independence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Wednesday.
