The Exeter Township Eagles will head out to challenge the Hempfield Black Knights at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Exeter Township is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Exeter Township will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Muhlenberg on Wednesday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Muhls. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.
Ryen Turner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Turner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jillian Warner, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Jadee Ruiz-Ravelo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Exeter Township hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Muhlenberg struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Hempfield entered their tilt with Central York on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Panthers.
Like Exeter Township, Hempfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Rose Wendel. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Wendel was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Wendel wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Claire Ditzler, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another was Lily Ashton, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Exeter Township's record now sits at 4-5. As for Hempfield, their record is now 5-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Exeter Township hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Hempfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Exeter Township skirted past Hempfield 4-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
