The Summerville Green Wave will be playing in front of their home fans against the River Bluff Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Summerville has ten straight victories, River Bluff has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Summerville can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Fort Dorchester 48-28.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Summerville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trae Green, who rushed for 226 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Green was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. Another player making a difference was Yannick Smith, who gained 179 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, River Bluff pushed their score all the way to 38 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Chapin by a score of 41-38.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Aaron Griffin, who picked up 114 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Toriaun Leaphart was another key contributor, rushing for 151 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
Summerville's victory was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.42 points. As for River Bluff, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Summerville has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 271.9 passing yards per game. It's a different story for River Bluff, though, as they've been averaging only 156.3 per game. How will River Bluff fare against such a dominant passing game?
