After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Greenfield, The Stevenson Pirates were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They put the hurt on Gonzales with a sharp 40-14 victory. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Stevenson's 12-point performance the matchup before.
When it comes to explaining why Gonzales lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ely Cisneros. Despite the final result, he rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Stevenson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Gonzales, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stevenson will take on Harbor at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Harbor focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Saturday. As for Gonzales, they will be playing at home against Greenfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenfield will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
