Winning is just a little bit easier when you make five more threes than your opponent, a fact the Franklin County Wildcats proved on Saturday. They snuck past Edinburgh with a 52-48 victory. For Franklin County, this counts as revenge for the 69-59 defeat Edinburgh walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
It was another big night for Eli Butt, who scored 19 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Kemp, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Edinburgh lost, one person who can't be blamed is Connor Ramey. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points. That was a full 50% of Edinburgh's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Hartwell, who scored two points along with three steals.
Franklin County's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11. As for Edinburgh, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin County will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Greenfield-Central at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Greenfield-Central will roll in looking for their 19th straight win, something Franklin County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Edinburgh, they will head out on the road to face off against Crothersville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Crothersville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven last Saturday.
