It was a good run, but the South Mountain Jaguars unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 49-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fairfax. South Mountain has not had much luck with Fairfax recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
South Mountain's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julia Abdelsalam, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bry'ann Wiley, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Ajana Kenyatta continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fairfax, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kenyatta has scored at least a third of Fairfax's points. Nadirah Muhammad was another key contributor, scoring two points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
South Mountain's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9. As for Fairfax, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.
South Mountain will head out on the road to take on Metro Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Mountain is facing Metro Tech at the right time seeing as Metro Tech is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Fairfax, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McClintock at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. McClintock is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season.
