The Saugus Centurions will play host again  on Friday to welcome the Canyon Cowboys, where kickoff is scheduled  at 7:00  p.m.
 Last Friday, Saugus took a  blow against Valencia, falling  62-21. While losing is never fun, the Centurions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' California football rankings  (they are ranked 478th, while the Vikings are ranked 221st).
 Despite the  defeat, Saugus had strong showings from  Jake Nuttall, who threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns, and  Landon Lattimore, who picked up 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
 Meanwhile, Canyon won a  matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Castaic 36-35. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Cowboys.
 Canyon got their  victory on the backs of several key players, but it was  Semaj Richardson out in front who rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Richardson showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 68 yards. Another player making a difference was  Sebastian Martinez, who threw for 148 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Canyon was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 234  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.
 Saugus dropped their record down to 1-4 with the  loss, which was their eighth straight  at home dating back to last season. As for Canyon, they now  have a winning record of 3-2.
 Saugus ended up a good deal behind  Canyon in their previous meeting  back in October of 2023, losing  28-13. Thankfully for Saugus,  Jeremiah Taylor (who picked up 120 receiving yards, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
