The Troy Flying Horses were the 55-43 winner over the Averill Park Warriors when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Troy fell to Averill Park 50-44.
Troy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Legend Merritt, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Stetson Merritt, who scored 12 points.
Troy's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-11. As for Averill Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Troy will take on Saratoga Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Saratoga Springs presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Troy in New York (Saratoga Springs is ranked 198th, while Troy is ranked 484th). As for Averill Park, they will head out on the road to square off against Schenectady at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
