The Sonora Wildcats had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.4 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They secured a 47-41 W over Argonaut. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Sonora also won the last time the pair played on January 12th.
Sonora's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jonathan Curran led the charge by scoring 15 points. Another player making a difference was Roger Edwards, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Argonaut's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mitchell Mcmahan, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Ryan Duran who scored 19 points. Mcmahan hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 11 straight games.
Sonora is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for Argonaut, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sonora will take on the Bullfrogs at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Argonaut, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Hawks at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Calaveras is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
