Basketball Recap: Community Baptist Starts Season with Victory at Home

Community Baptist took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They snuck past the Salem Christian School Defenders with a 77-72 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Conquerors sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row dating back to last season.

Zavien Russell went supernova, dropping a double-double with 33 points and 13 boards. Another player making a difference was Luke Preston, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Despite the loss, Salem Christian School still got an impressive performance from Parker Copeland, who put up 43 points. Weston Jones was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Community Baptist is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Shining Light Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Salem Christian School, they will square off against Millennium at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
