The M.L. King Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 83-43 defeat at the hands of Chamblee. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for a single point.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Janaya Williams, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. Williams continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubriana Kirkland, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
It was another big night for Alana Azeta, who dropped a double-double on 42 points and 14 rebounds for Chamblee. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Azeta has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brianna Wood, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.
M.L. King has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Chamblee, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
M.L. King will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tucker at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Tucker is ranked 447th, while M.L. King is ranked 460th). As for Chamblee, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against North Atlanta at 2:00 p.m.
