The Corona/Vaughn Cardinals waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They managed a 41-35 win over Alamo Navajo. This was payback for Corona/Vaughn, who suffered a 44-37 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Corona/Vaughn was led to victory by Kourtney Brandenberger and Harper Dunn. Brandenberger scored 15 points along with seven steals, while Dunn dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 21 rebounds, and 11 blocks. That makes it four consecutive games in which Dunn has scored at least a third of Corona/Vaughn's points.
Corona/Vaughn's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Alamo Navajo, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
Corona/Vaughn will head out on the road to face off against Lake Arthur at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Arthur comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Alamo Navajo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountainair at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
