It was a good run, but the Greenbrier Bobcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 60-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wilsonville. While losing is never fun, Greenbrier can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 222nd in Tennessee, while Wilsonville is ranked 36th in Oregon).
When it comes to explaining why Greenbrier lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nolan Carson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 18 rebounds. Carson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Travarius Flood, who scored eight points.
Greenbrier's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Wilsonville, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Greenbrier will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Sycamore at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Wilsonville, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Parkrose at 7:15 p.m.
