If The Calvary Chapel Grizzlies were riding high off their 34-12 takedown of the Blair Vikings last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Calvary Chapel took a serious blow against California Lutheran on Friday, falling 50-14. Calvary Chapel was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-0.
It was another big night for Ren Ukai, who rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Ukai is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lukas Shobe, who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
California Lutheran's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Jonas Vogel and his two sacks.
Calvary Chapel's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for California Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Calvary Chapel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. California Lutheran will look to defend their home field on Friday against California School for the Deaf-Riverside at 7:00 p.m. California School for the Deaf-Riverside is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
