The Madison Patriots lost against the Mountain Heritage Cougars back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Madison took a serious blow against Mountain Heritage, falling 42-14. Madison was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.
Madison's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Levi Shelton, who rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Gault, who picked up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Brandon Quinn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mountain Heritage, rushing for 129 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 19 yards and a touchdown. Quinn was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards.
Madison's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Mountain Heritage, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Madison will head out on the road to face off against Owen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Owen is on a four-game streak of home losses, Madison a seven-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Mountain Heritage will take on Draughn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Draughn is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
