After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Forest Hill, the Leonard Lancers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Santaluces 45-43. That's another feather in the cap for Leonard, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Emmanuel Augustin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with four steals. Augustin is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Reggie Presendieu was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Santaluces' loss came despite strong showings from Trent Nixon and Brad Watkins. Nixon scored seven points, while Watkins scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Watkins has scored all season.
Leonard now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Santaluces, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.
Leonard's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Royal Palm Beach presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Lancers in Florida (the Wildcats are ranked 161st, while the Lancers are ranked 432nd). As for Santaluces, they will head out on the road to challenge the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Palm Beach Central's favor as the squad sits on ten straight wins at home while the Chiefs have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
