Ava Nixon made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Taylor Sutton was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Jojo Weeks was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Atlantic Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
King's Christian hit Gloucester County Christian with a five-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Conquerors took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The Conquerors haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Claire Wolf was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Wentz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI.
Atlantic Christian now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Gloucester County Christian, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Everything went Atlantic Christian's way against Gloucester County Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Atlantic Christian made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
