The Musselman Applemen can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They blew past GVCS Broadfording 75-34 on the road. Given Musselman's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 19th in West Virginia, while the Lions are ranked 239th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Musselman got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Matthew Mahood out in front who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Troy Woolaston, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, GVCS Broadfording still got an impressive performance from Jordan Shifler, who scored 19 points along with three blocks. Shifler continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
GVCS Broadfording struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Musselman pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Musselman and bumps their season record up to 9-4. As for GVCS Broadfording, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-18.
Musselman will be playing at home against the Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for GVCS Broadfording, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Heritage Academy will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
