Southeast is 8-2 against Mogadore since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Southeast Pirates will be staying on the road to face off against the Mogadore Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Southeast didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Grand Valley, but they still walked away with a 34-29 victory.
Meanwhile, Mogadore had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Mineral Ridge 48-33 on Monday. The win was all the more spectacular given Mogadore's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 501st, while Mineral Ridge is ranked 220th).
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Amelia Morris and Ava Hulett. Morris had a great game and dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Meanwhile, Hulett was balling out in the loss, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds.
The win got Southeast back to even at 7-7. Mogadore's record is now 6-9.
Southeast beat Mogadore 36-28 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Morris, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Southeast still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
