Madison has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Marshall Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
While Madison couldn't quite beat the Rattlers on Tuesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 51-point defeat they were dealt on Friday. Madison fell just short of the Rattlers by a score of 47-44. Madison has not had much luck with the Rattlers recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Madison might have lost, but man, Nadia Bailey was a machine: she scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Bailey is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last five games she's played. Jada Castleberry was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Madison smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reagan only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Marshall's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 51-43 to Lee. While losing is never fun, Marshall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while the Volunteers are ranked 172nd).
Madison's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 13-21. As for Marshall, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-17 record this season.
Madison came up short against the Rams in their previous meeting back in January, falling 44-38. Can Madison avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
