The Berkeley Yellowjackets will venture away from home to challenge the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Berkeley is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
Berkeley took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Castro Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Yellowjackets narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Trojans 3-2. The game was the first time the Yellowjackets have beaten the Trojans on their court since March 15, 2022.
Berkeley got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-30, 25-23, 25-19, 19-25, 15-9.

Berkeley found their leader in sophomore Finley Couillard, who had 18 digs and four aces. Those 18 digs set a new season-high mark for Couillard.
Meanwhile, Bishop O'Dowd unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-match winning streak back in March. They fell just short of Castro Valley by a score of 3-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 16, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Bishop O'Dowd started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 16-14.
Berkeley's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Bishop O'Dowd, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Berkeley came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop O'Dowd when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
