Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Jefferson County Tigers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 71-60 to the Warriors on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (59), Jefferson County still had to take the loss.
Aucilla Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Bass out in front who scored 21 points along with seven assists and three steals. Bass hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Gamalero, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Jefferson County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season. As for Aucilla Christian, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8.
Jefferson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Aucilla Christian, they will square off against Crossroad Academy at TBD on Thursday. Aucilla Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 695th, while Crossroad Academy is ranked 225th).
