The Valor Preparatory Academy Owls had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They managed a 67-63 win over Sugar Creek. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Valor Preparatory Academy was led to victory by Johnathan Lee and Bishop Witherspoon. Lee scored 20 points, while Witherspoon scored 26 points. Witherspoon is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Daniels, who scored eight points.
When it comes to explaining why Sugar Creek lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aidan Gatewood. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Terry Watson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Valor Preparatory Academy pushed their record up to 7-7 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.7 points per game. As for Sugar Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valor Preparatory Academy will play host again and welcome Jackson Day, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sugar Creek won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Apprentice Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Apprentice Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
