Softball Recap: Sewickley Academy Wins Going Away Against Cornell

Sewickley Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Cornell on Monday. Sewickley Academy blew past Cornell 15-2. The result was nothing new for Sewickley Academy, who have now won eight matches by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Charlotte Andrews (2028) made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Sewickley Academy let Gabby Edmunds (2028) and Sophie Crichton (2027) run wild. Edmunds (2028) got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs, while Crichton (2027) went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That home run marked the first that Edmunds (2028) has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Sirko (2025), who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Sewickley Academy's record now sits at 11-3. As for Cornell, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sewickley Academy will welcome South Side at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sewickley Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Cornell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Canevin at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
