It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Escondido Cougars ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Fallbrook with a 63-58 win. The win was a breath of fresh air for Escondido as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Despite the loss, Fallbrook still got an impressive performance from Evan Thomas, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Samuel Carmona, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Escondido's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Fallbrook, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Escondido will challenge Westview at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Fallbrook, they will head out on the road to face off against Classical Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Classical Academy is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
