The Black River Falls Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 52-28 walloping at the hands of Sparta. Black River Falls has not had much luck with Sparta recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Sparta's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elexa Jones, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Lily Seifert was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Black River Falls bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.5 points per game. As for Sparta, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7.
Black River Falls will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Tomah at 7:15 p.m. on December 29th. Tomah is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. Sparta will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Onalaska at 7:15 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
