The Natalia Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They suffered a rough 51-29 loss at the hands of Navasota. While losing is never fun, Natalia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1286th, while Navasota is ranked 377th).
Natalia's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Leyla Saenz, who scored five points, and Anaya Jones who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Natalia has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Navasota, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-3.
Natalia will be playing in front of their home fans against Jourdanton at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jourdanton is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. Navasota will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Wharton at 12:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Hopefully Wharton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Tuesday.
