Oakland is 9-1 against Blackman since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Patriots will welcome the Blaze at 6:30 p.m. Oakland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Oakland is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Silverdale Academy just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Seahawks by a score of 3-2. The Patriots were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the five games prior), but the Seahawks' pitcher proved too tough.
Taylor Minnick spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.
At the plate, Chloe Aaron made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Ellison, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Blackman made easy work of Riverdale on Tuesday and carried off an 18-3 victory. Considering the Blaze have won six matches by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Blackman got a massive performance out of Sophia Sullivan, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4. Khloe Kolb was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Blackman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverdale only managed five hits.
Blackman has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Oakland, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3-1.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oakland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Blackman struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oakland skirted past Blackman 5-3 when the teams last played back in March. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blaze turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
