On Friday, Connersville didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Northeastern, but they still walked away with a 49-43 victory.
Connersville found their leader in underclassman Ahniyah Bennett, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Bennett's third in a row with at least ten points. Jacey Willhelm was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Northeastern lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cami Angi. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Addisen Mastriano, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Connersville pushed their record up to 9-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Northeastern, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Connersville will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Frankton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Frankton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Saturday. Northeastern will finish 2023 at home by hosting Wapahani at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Wapahani is ranked 156th, while Northeastern is ranked 144th).
