Makinzie Nelson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
