Softball Recap: Pinnacle Takes Down Ranked Corona Del Sol

Pinnacle faced Corona del Sol in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Pioneers never let the Aztecs get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Pinnacle got a massive performance out of Sienna Caro, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Caro has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Payton Crank, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and two runs.

Pinnacle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corona del Sol only posted a batting average of .125.

Pinnacle has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Corona del Sol, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pinnacle will challenge Boulder Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Corona del Sol, they will take on Sunnyslope at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Aztecs are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
