The Ayden - Grifton Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 76-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greene Central. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ayden - Grifton in their matchups with the Rams: they've now lost seven in a row.
Ayden - Grifton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiha Crandell, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Hatteras Jenkins, who scored 17 points.
Ayden - Grifton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Greene Central pulled down 19 offensive rebounds.
Greene Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jalin Sutton led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sutton has scored all season. Denelly Coppedge was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Ayden - Grifton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Greene Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season.
Ayden - Grifton will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. North Pitt is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Greene Central, they will head out on the road to square off against the Pam Pack at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 316 points over their last five matchups.
