For the first time this season, Kentlake will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the Jefferson Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Kentlake will be strutting in after a win while Jefferson will be coming in after a loss.
While Falcons fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. They were the clear victors by a 22-7 margin over Mt. Rainier on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Falcons have beaten the Rams on their field since May 3, 2018.
Leone Suamataia made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Suamataia was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
In other batting news, Kentlake got a massive performance out of Hi'Ilei Gomes, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Josie Pedeferri, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Kentlake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .673. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Rainier only posted an OBP of .429.
Meanwhile, Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Kennedy Catholic. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Raiders have suffered since April 11, 2024.
Jefferson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katarah Lli, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Karis Song was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Kentlake took their victory against Jefferson when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-2. Does Kentlake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jefferson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
