Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Trojans vs. Maclay Marauders

Two dominant guards in Jamiya Brown and Lauren Guyer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lincoln Trojans will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Maclay Marauders at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lincoln is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Leon: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lincoln blew Leon out of the water with a 61-16 final score. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 24 points or more this season.

Brown was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 boards. The contest was her eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Keeli Duncan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Lincoln smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 32 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Maclay, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 39-29 win over Taylor County on Monday.

Lincoln has also been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Maclay, they pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Everything came up roses for Lincoln against Maclay in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 75-36 win. Does Lincoln have another victory up their sleeve, or will Maclay turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
