The Nativity BVM Green Wave lost against the Mahanoy Area Golden Bears back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Nativity BVM fell 28-21 to Mahanoy Area.
Several Green Wave players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was John Borrell, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Kreitzer, who rushed for 17 yards and a touchdown.
It was another big night for Colm McGroarty, who rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 12 yards and a touchdown. McGroarty hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games.
Nativity BVM's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Mahanoy Area, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6.
Nativity BVM will face off against Minersville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mahanoy Area, they will be playing at home against Shenandoah Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shenandoah Valley is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
