Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Yorktown

Yorktown had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Westfield Shamrocks by a score of 9-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Olivia Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Anna Rinker was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Abbey Booher was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Yorktown lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Yorktown's record now sits at 10-2. As for Westfield, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.

Yorktown and Westfield should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Tigers will face off against Anderson at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (32 vs. 245). Meanwhile, Westfield (ranked 18th) will meet Indianapolis Bishop Chatard (ranked 80th) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
