The Huntington Raiders''s game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They managed a 34-29 win over Evangel Christian Academy. This was payback for Huntington, who suffered a 21-14 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Jamarion Washington was on fire: he rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also picked up 86 receiving yards. Washington's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. Marcus Willis was another key contributor, rushing for 132 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
Despite the loss, Evangel Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Damari Drake rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Parker Fulghum, who picked up 137 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Huntington has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Evangel Christian Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 6-4.
Huntington will face off against Bossier at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bossier has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since September 1. As for Evangel Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
