Given Olathe Northwest's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Bishop Miege is ranked 158th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Olathe Northwest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jj Lee, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Gavin Popik was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Olathe Northwest has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Bishop Miege, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-7 record last season and are now at 2-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Olathe Northwest and Saint Thomas Aquinas will face off at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bishop Miege won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mill Valley at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th.
