Everything went their way against the Clovis Cougars on Thursday as they made off with a 12-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Brooklyn Ainsworth made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harmony McMurry, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Addy Schafer was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
