Holcomb is 6-1 against Naylor since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Holcomb's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Naylor's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Friday, Holcomb got the win against Gideon by a conclusive 18-2. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Jaxsten Pikey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Bryce McNabb was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Keaton Cunningham, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Holcomb was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Naylor fell victim to Van Buren and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 6-0 to the Bulldogs. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Holcomb pushed their record up to 14-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Naylor, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Holcomb has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Naylor struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Holcomb's way against Naylor when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Holcomb made off with a 13-1 victory. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
